What is EMS and how does it work?
Electrical muscle stimulation or EMS is a full body workout that can target multiple muscle groups simultaneously. It is a new trend sport that Orginating in Europe and originally comes from physiotherapy. It can also be used for isolation training and targeting desired muscle groups. Most traditional workouts may only use 50% of your muscles but EMS can engage up to 98% 20-minute EMS workouts can be the equivalent of a normal 90-minute conventional gym session. This high-intense whole-body workout uses low-frequency electrical impulses to stimulate those muscles that are often ignored by conventional training methods.
Is EMS safe and does it hurt?
Yes, it is safe and has been scientifically proven to be extremely effective by reputable sports institutions. It is not painful but it is stimulating to the muscles. Most adapt quickly to the sensation of their stimulated muscles. You may feel minor soreness after your work out.
EMS is suited for ages 18 and up and in good general health. If you have any specific ailments, we advise you to talk to your health care professional before booking an appointment.
How many times should I train with EMS and how quickly will I see results?
Usually to see optimum results, EMS can either be used once a week in addition to one or two conventional workouts, or twice a week. Most clients see changes faster with using EMS twice a week. Keep in mind, everyone is different. Changes can usually be seen after four sessions or less depending on your lifestyle. According to Scientific studies over the course of a 12-week period using EMS training: 9% body fat loss, 30% increase in strength, 89% of people felt , healthier, more energetic, stronger and more fit.
Yes, of course. The recovery phase of an EMS strength session is typically 48 to 72 hours, and 24 to 48 hours for metabolism training. Conventional gym training and various fitness classes, such as yoga, zumba, pilates etc., can be done in addition to EMS training. EMS training combined with conventional gym/fit class training can improve your overall body composition.
** NOTE: EMS equipment should not be used if you have heart disease, history of cancer, pacemakers or other electronic medical devices, Rhabdomyolysis, or pregnant. EMS is not recommended for individuals with a predisposition to epileptic seizures, convulsions, infectious diseases, prone to hemorrhaging or heavy bleeding (hemophilia), have an abdominal wall or inguinal hernia, arteriosclerosis, high fever, blood pressure related illnesses, or skin disease.
